Joe Gleason is a seasoned litigator, having practiced in the Atlanta area for the last 24 years. Joe focuses his practice on business litigation, intellectual property litigation, real estate litigation, fiduciary litigation, and appeals. Joe has worked as a solo practitioner, at medium-sized law firms, and as a partner at a large Atlanta-based law firm with over 800 attorneys. Throughout these roles, Joe has successfully represented clients large and small in litigation throughout the United States. In 2019, Joe obtained a jury verdict of $135 million, the second largest jury verdict in the state of Georgia that year, representing an independent sales organization (ISO) in a suit against payment processor Global Payments, Inc. Joe has also successfully represented other outside sales organizations in litigation against large payment processors. Previously, Joe assisted Nokia in obtaining billions of dollars in patent license and cross-license agreements with mobile phone manufacturers such as Apple. Joe has a passion for litigation, and loves to try cases whenever necessary.
Joe is admitted to practice in all Georgia county courts, the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice in federal district courts for the Northern District of Georgia, Southern District of Georgia, and Eastern District of Texas. Joe is also admitted to practice in the federal Courts of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, Ninth Circuit, Eleventh Circuit and Federal Circuit.
Joe obtained his bachelor of arts degree in political science from the Franklin College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Georgia, where he graduated cum laude. Joe then obtained his juris doctorate degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. There, Joe served as an Articles Editor on the Georgia Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif, an honor society for the top 10% of a law school’s graduating class. From there, Joe became a partner at Alston & Bird, LLP. After that, Joe practiced in small firms and as a solo practitioner, indulging his passion for litigation the whole time.
