Jon P Spetalnick

Partner
For nearly four decades, Jon P Spetalnick has helped individuals and families navigate some of life’s most difficult legal and financial decisions with experience, practical judgment, and an unwavering commitment to their long-term interests.
Family law matters are rarely just legal disputes. They involve children, financial security, family relationships, and the future. Jon understands that every client’s circumstances are unique, and he believes effective representation begins with listening, understanding each client’s goals, and providing practical, honest advice every step of the way.

Jon earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from The Ohio State University before receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1987. He began his legal career in the estate planning division of a national accounting firm, where he also became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He later practiced with a respected boutique family law firm in Buckhead before continuing his career representing individuals and families throughout Georgia.

His practice focuses primarily on family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable division of marital property, legitimation, modifications, contempt actions, and other domestic relations matters. He also advises individuals, families, and business owners in estate planning.
Jon’s legal, accounting, and financial background provides clients with a distinct advantage in cases involving closely held businesses, executive compensation, retirement accounts, deferred compensation, self-employment income, and complex asset valuation. He recognizes that many family law cases are shaped as much by financial issues as legal ones, and he helps clients understand both the immediate and long-term consequences of the decisions they make.
Whenever possible, Jon works to resolve disputes through thoughtful negotiation. At the same time, he prepares every case as though it will be tried. Careful preparation, strategic planning, and clear communication are central to his approach, enabling him to negotiate from a position of strength while remaining fully prepared to advocate in the courtroom when necessary.
Jon believes the attorney-client relationship is a partnership built on trust, preparation, and open communication. He encourages clients to ask questions, understand their options, and participate in developing a strategy that reflects both their immediate needs and their long-term goals.
Throughout his career, one principle has remained constant: while the legal process eventually ends, its consequences often last a lifetime. His objective is not simply to resolve a case, but to help clients make sound decisions, protect what matters most, and move forward with confidence.
