Jason L. Nohr (Jay) is a trial attorney with more than 30 years of experience successfully litigating and resolving complex civil matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts. His practice is built on a practical understanding of business disputes, a proven record in high-stakes litigation, and a client-centered approach that focuses on solving problems efficiently while preparing every matter for the demands of trial.
Business Litigation and Complex Trial Experience
Jay represents clients in significant business and commercial disputes, including breach of contract claims, business ownership and “business divorce” disputes, fiduciary duty claims, arbitration matters, employment disputes, non-compete agreements, and other conflicts that can threaten a company’s operations, ownership structure, reputation, or financial stability. He has successfully litigated and resolved complex business claims in state and federal trial and appellate courts, including matters involving hard-fought settlement enforcement issues and longstanding business disputes. Whether he represents his clients in contested hearings involving emergency injunctive relief or in mediations achieving a resolution through settlement, Jay has a proven record of successful results for his clients.
Jay’s business litigation practice is strengthened by his broader trial experience. He understands that commercial disputes are not just legal problems; they are business problems requiring practical, strategic, and effective solutions. His approach is to learn the client’s objectives, assess the risks and leverage points, and develop a litigation strategy that protects the client’s business interests while remaining focused on practical, cost-conscious results.
Receivership, Fraud Recovery, and High-Stakes Federal Litigation
Jay has extensive experience in complex receivership litigation and fraud recovery. He currently serves as a court-appointed Receiver in a Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement action involving a multi-million-dollar Ponzi-type fraud scheme. In that role, Jay has served not only as Receiver but also as lead counsel in litigation efforts involving fraudulent conveyance, “claw back,” and recovery actions across the country.
Through those efforts, Jay has recovered millions of dollars for defrauded investors and has achieved some of the highest percentage recoveries for investor losses in SEC receivership actions in the Southeast region. That work reflects the same qualities Jay brings to his private clients: strategic judgment, disciplined preparation, courtroom experience, and the persistence required to pursue meaningful results in complex disputes.
A Client-Centered, Business-Minded Approach Across Practice Areas
Jay applies the same client-centered, business-minded approach across every area of his practice. Whether he is representing a business in an ownership dispute, a company or individual in a contract or employment-related matter, an injured client in a catastrophic personal injury case, or a client facing an insurance-related dispute, Jay begins with the client’s goals and works backward to build the right strategy.
That approach means giving each case the attention it deserves, identifying the issues that matter most, and preparing from the outset for the realities of negotiation, mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeal. Jay’s clients benefit from a lawyer who can evaluate both the legal merits and the practical consequences of litigation, helping them make informed decisions at every stage.
Proven Trial and Appellate Results
Jay’s litigation experience extends beyond business disputes to include catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, professional negligence, premises liability, and motor vehicle negligence, and recreational vehicle and boating injury matters. With an aggressive but practical, strategic, and professional business law approach to obtain the best results for his personal injury clients, Jay has recovered millions of dollars for clients through jury verdicts and settlements. He is recognized for taking on difficult cases that require careful preparation, expert cross-examination, and trial-ready advocacy. That skill set has led to a history of success for his clients, through trial verdicts and settlements, including one of the highest recoveries in a medical malpractice suicide cases in Georgia.
Jay is also an accomplished appellate advocate, with successful appeals in the Georgia Supreme Court, Georgia Court of Appeals, and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Those successes include enforcing a settlement agreement for a business dispute in federal court that was enforced by the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Jay was also lead counsel in the first case involving a nursing home arbitration clause in the Georgia appellate courts. By defeating the nursing home’s motion to compel arbitration, Jay obtained an appellate victory that helped clarify Georgia agency law in a way that preserved access to jury trial for all Georgians.
